Obama Going back to Washington As Fiscal Cliff Looms

President Barack Obama is ending his Hawaiian vacation Wednesday to manufacture a late-hour bid to succeed in a fiscal-cliff deal prior to the year ends.

He's going to leave Honolulu Wednesday night and will be back in Washington on Thursday, the White House said. First lady Michelle Obama and their daughters will continue in Hawaii.

House and Senate members are required to reconvene Thursday.

Obama and Republicans have been at loggerheads over how to prevent automatic tax increases for anyone and deep spending cuts that'll be triggered inside new year lacking any agreement.
